Dr. Gerassimos Martzopoulos is a Professor in the Department of Hydraulics, Soil Science and Agricultural Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. Professor Martzopoulos is the head of the laboratory of “Alternative Energy Sources in Agriculture”, in the dept. of Agricultural Engineering of A.U.Th. He is a member of a network within the frame of FAO for the application of the geothermal energy in agriculture, a member of the Board of the National Foundation for Agricultural Research and he is also actively involved in many national and international Symposiums, Conferences and Workshops (over 80) and he has officially visited several Universities abroad (Europe, Israel, Turkey). He is a member of several scientific societies and technical councils. He has also published a number of scientific articles and research papers and academic monographs. Finally, he participated in two groups of FAO European Cooperative Network for Energy in Agriculture: (a) Biomass Conversion and (b) Use of Geothermal Energy in Agriculture. He has been project manager in several researches, educational and innovative projects funded by State, European and private organizations.
